Today, New York City FC officially announced the departure of fan favourite Kwadwo Poku, in a move that has upset the masses. During his time at NYCFC, Kwadwo showed us glimpses of his potential. Our belief is that there were a number of issues behind the scenes, be it fitness or the reported effort during training that prevented him from being given that run in the team and the starts so many believed he deserved. Although things haven't quite worked for him in the blue of NYCFC, we wish him the very best in his bright future. We're sad to see him go, but proud that New York City FC will have been a stepping stone to what promises to be a great career. It was a pleasure to meet Poku here in Manchester on two separate occasions. Prior to the clubs Inaugural season in Major League Soccer, New York City FC played two fixture at the City Football Academy. Having attended both of these fixture, Poku immediately became a stand out figure and one we were excited to see in the coming seasons. The second meeting came prior to the start of this season where Kwadwo along with RJ, Patrick, Tony and Tommy all spoke about being really excited for the forthcoming season. Sixth Borough Blues wishes you all the best at Miami FC. Once a blue, always a blue. "We want Poku..." | |
